A CRISP Werribee South morning last September provided the perfect backdrop for the winner of this year's Ted's Camera Stores Photographic Competition.
The successful entry, taken by Tarneit resident Jared Revell, depicts the scene from the edge of a pier at Campbells Cove, looking out onto Port Phillip, just before sunrise.
Working to the theme 'Capture Wyndham', the 150 submissions celebrated the municipality's diverse landscape and character. Everything from the awe-inspiring K Road cliffs to the natural beauty of Truganina was on display.
Mr Revell said the key to his photo was the use of a long exposure and a single, protracted shutter cycle to capture enough low-intensity light.
"It really brought out the blue colours in sky and the water," he said.
"It was something a bit different.
I have a keen interest in the outdoors, and I want to portray the beauty that's out there to others."
The 30yearold said photography was a hobby that he eventually hoped to pursue it as a career.
Other winners were Evran Velisha of Westbourne Grammar in the college category, and Bellbridge Primary School's Jack Price in the primary schools section.
Some of the successful photos may eventually be used on a postcard to promote Wyndham.
