THE cup wasn't the only hotly contested prize at Sunday's Werribee Cup with about 50 men and women vying for the fashions on the field crowns.
While some chose to enter the competitions for fun or to fulfil a dare by friends, others took the event seriously, having spent weeks picking out the perfect outfit.
The three categories were judged by designer Jenny Bannister, celebrity stylist Philip Boon and milliner Rebecca Share.
Mount Evelyn's Nicole Walter won the women's classic racewear category in a white Lisa Ho dress and black and white hat she bought in New York last year.
The winner of the men's classic racewear category was Richmond's Michael McAlpine, who wore a grey Uberstone suit with an orange and white shirt and tie.
Ms Walter and Mr McAlpine are regulars on the fashions on the field circuit and won their respective categories at Cranbourne in October.
Ms Walter said she considered Mr McAlpine to be good luck. Mr McAlpine, who only discovered there would a men's competition on Friday, said he was glad to again share the moment with Ms Walter.
The winner of the most spectacular headwear category, which was judged by Ms Share who won last year's Flemington millenary award, was Rebecca Gore.
