VSDCA T20: Werribee Tigers tail off

11 Jan, 2012 12:00 AM
WERRIBEE Tigers returned to the chasing pack on Saturday after a shock 33-run loss to the Sunshine Crows in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association Twenty20 round at Chirnside Park.

The Tigers went into the new year with grand designs of a first-up victory to strengthen their hold on a finals position. They came out with a bruised ego and a lot of work to do following an unexpected loss.

The visiting Crows made life tough for the Tigers bowlers en route to 1-154 off 20 overs, thanks largely to 92 not out from player-coach Romain Grenville.

Shaun Dean was the most threatening of the Tigers batsmen with 25.

His innings came to a halt off the bowling of player-of-the-match Grenville.

Once Dean was removed, it was plain sailing for the Crows.
