CHAOS ruled at Chirnside Park on Saturday. Fifteen wickets for a mere 157 runs was the tally on the first day of a two-day showdown between the Werribee Tigers and Preston Bullants in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association.
After 80 overs, we're none the wiser about a potential winner in a match that could have massive implications for the Tigers.
"The first hour next week is going to be very important," Tigers bowler Jonathon Burton said.
The Bullants were on the back foot early. The winless visitors rolled over for a mediocre 112 in 57 overs to show why they are rock bottom in the standings.
This inept performance was due to a number of factors, which included their own failures with the willow in hand, a soft top pitch that had the ball "nipping around" and a flawless performance from the Tigers with the ball and in the field.
"It was a great effort by our boys," Burton said.
This was a typical lock 'em down Tigers bowling performance.
New ball operator Matthew Thomson spearheaded the Tigers' attack with 4-22 off 15 overs.
The Tigers have made hard work of a tiny run chase. The hosts were in trouble at stumps on 5-45.
They still require 68 to win with just five wickets in hand.
