WERRIBEE'S finals dreams suffered a blow with a six-run loss to previously winless Preston in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association.
Set 113 for victory, the Tigers crumbled to be all out for 106 in 55.5 overs.
At one stage, they were 9-64, staring down the barrel of a heavy defeat.
But a 42-run 10th-wicket partnership between Matthew Thomson (32) and Jonathon Burton (15) revived them until
Thomson was knocked over by Preston's seven-wicket star Brendan Barry.
Nine points out of the top six, the Tigers face a must-win game against the feared Melton on the road at
MacPherson Park in a two-day game starting on Saturday.
